Graphics for Android Developers

Modern Android Development

Chet Haase & Romain Guy

Chief Android
Advocate & Android Toolkit

Vectors. Bitmaps. 3D. 2D. UI.
There are soooo many types of graphics available to you when writing a mobile app.
This session will provide an overview of different graphics technologies and how to implement them on Android.

Android has come a long way since 1.0. In recent years, the team has added new tools, new APIs, new practices... even a new language. What should developers be learning? What should they be using? How does it all fit together, and how does it take us into the bright Android future?

Chet has been on the Android team since 2010, mostly working on and leading the UI Toolkit team, but recently as a part of the Developer Relations team. He enjoys hacking code for graphics, UI, performance, and then talking to developers about it at conferences like this.

Romain manages the Android Toolkit team. The team's projects included AndroidX/Jetpack, the UI toolkit, Kotlin support and graphics.
