AndroidTV: Bigger screens, Bigger challenges
Gigantic smarter screens are now in our living rooms in 4K, UHD, OLED, QLED display 42Inch, 55inch, 65inch curved TVs... and now we have 8k!
From the first day i tried building for these large smart screens, I have had a couple of failed attempts and successful ones. I run an apps on my TV and other people's TVs.
In this talk i Reflect on the seemingly unTouched medium: Televisions.
I explore some of personal best practices for building AndroidTV apps from my failed and successful attempts, till running them on the television and getting them published with source code of example applications and insights.
I currently develop apps at Snappmobile.
I worked at Intel as an Applications Engineer.
I consult on various Android projects both as a developer and as a systems architect.
I then co-founded one of the first coding boot camps in Africa - Moringa School.
Having left in 2016, I started EarlyCamp that trains young children aged 4-12 years old how to solve problems with technology. I use psychology in tech education at EarlyCamp.
I co-organize KotlinKenya and Android254 - the largest Android developer community in Africa.
